Start at Twin de Saint-Cyr (Rue Engerand).
(S/E) Go round the blocks of flats and head towards Rue du Bocage through the green spaces, cross over and take the first right towards the gym (or the willow tree if you prefer), then turn left to go under the blocks of flats and continue towards Place du Marché.
(1) After the square, head towards La Mésangerie via the passage at the back on the left and follow Rue de la Mésangerie to the Loire (Quai du Portillon).
(2) Go down the steps from the embankment and take the towpath, following the current. Follow this path, taking in the scenery, the Loire and, on the opposite bank, the blend of town and countryside.
Continue to the white houses (a cluster of old mansions, ducks and seagulls) and then on to the Pont de la Motte (fishermen, ducks and coypu).
(3) Return to the towpath (approx. 10 mins).
(4) Take the first flight of steps towards the Quai de Saint-Cyr. Cross the D952 and head up to the right of Sainte-Juliette Church, past the Gué Louis XI restaurant; halfway up the slope, turn right to enter the Péraudière park through the gate. Cross the park (yes, it’s uphill again!) and exit opposite La Grenadière (equestrian centre). Walk alongside La Grenadière heading north and take the first right, then the first left.
(5) Enter Parc de la Tour, exit and take Rue Victor Hugo on the left, then Allée de Montjoie,
(6) Cross the unnamed green space, then turn right onto Avenue de la République and head towards Rue de la Mésangerie, then follow the original route in the opposite direction (S/E).
