To get there, from the town hall in Saint-Esteben, continue along the road to Saint-Palais. After 2 km, turn right just after a bridge, at a garage. You can park at the side of the small road. The start of the walk is 200 m away, following the road uphill.
(S/E) Follow the road uphill and, at the bend, enter the wood to the south. Ignore a path on the right and take a hairpin bend to the left (Karrikaburua on the map) then a little further on to the right.
(1) After passing through the chestnut trees, turn right and continue south, ignoring a path on the right further on.
(2) Climb up to the plateau. The landscape is superb, especially in autumn. Continue towards the summit to discover the Arbéroue landscape with a panoramic view of the entire valley.
(3) Continue to the right at the corner of the cluster of trees and descend towards the valley.
(4) Take the hairpin bend to the right before a gate to return to the hillside. Leave the path leading to Basagaitzea on your left and continue straight on until you reach the junction with a road.
(5) Go up the road on the right and return to the starting point (S/E).
An ideal hike. Suitable for young and old alike.
