Around the old railway line from Rognon

The walk, which starts at the old Rognon station, takes you through the surrounding countryside and, at the end, follows just over two kilometres of the old line 123.
Straddling the provinces of Walloon Brabant and Hainaut, the main features are a gently undulating landscape, fairly distant villages and, between them, a habitat that is both omnipresent and very scattered: numerous private dwellings and isolated farms or small hamlets.

Notes

Please note: there are no shops, water points, picnic tables or benches along the route.
And for those who dislike tarmac, please note that around 90% of the route is on hard ground, concrete or asphalt: small country roads with very little traffic, except for tractors.

Worth a visit

The section of the SNCB 123 line that connected Enghien to Braine-le-Comte has long been disused. The section of line 115 that connected Braine-l'Alleud and Braine-le-Comte is also disused from Quenast onwards.
Between Rebecq and the former Rognon station, the Rail Rebecq Rognon association has set up the 'Petit Train du Bonheur', a narrow-gauge diesel/steam tourist train that runs on Sunday afternoons from April to September or by reservation.
