Exploring the Area Faunistica del Cervo (wheelchair accessible)
The deer reserve offers an immersive experience of their natural habitat. The path is accessible to all; part of it is paved and part is a gravel surface, allowing access for adapted wheelchairs. Along the 1.5 km route, you’ll see a stream and a natural lake, the woods, and you’ll walk alongside the enclosure where deer and other wild animals live in semi-freedom. A small chapel is also easily accessible (you’ll need to walk a few dozen metres uphill from the start of the walk).
Cascade del Verde
The Cascade del Verde is the highest waterfall in Italy.
The path is accessible to everyone. It consists of around 200 steps leading to three viewing points of the waterfall. It does not provide access to the base of the waterfall or the river below.
There is a very pleasant bar and restaurant where you can relax before setting off again.
Campo di Giove Bear Trail
Set off to discover the Abruzzo bear on a trail that is accessible to young children and will also interest adults. Themed panels present different aspects of the animal and offer games and activities.
Circular walk in the Majella Nature Park starting from Lama dei Peligni
This walk offers the chance to spot wild chamois in the Majella Nature Park. Plan to set off in the morning or return in the late afternoon to maximise your chances of seeing them. Otherwise, the views and panoramas across the Abruzzo National Park are magnificent.
Lake Scanno and the Sentiero del Cuore
A 30-minute walk to admire the heart-shaped lake. A souvenir photo is guaranteed. The path is clearly signposted from the “Sentiero del Cuore” car park. You might spot a doe along the way.
From Roccapreturo to Caporciano
A fairly easy and very pleasant walk connecting a small village to a slightly larger town. The start is a little steep, but the walk is worth the effort, with breathtaking scenery. An accessible walk in a less frequented part of Abruzzo
