Aar circular loop: Taunussteiner Doppelbach

Who has a ‘double stream’? Taunusstein does – the Kotzebach. And the curious thing is that the two streams of the same name, flowing towards each other from the direction of Watzhahn, used to feed the Hahner outdoor swimming pool in years gone by. Incidentally, the name comes from ‘korz’, meaning ‘short’.

Description of the walk

From the starting point at the Brünnchen in Taunusstein-Watzhahn, the trail follows the western Kotzebach downstream through the shallow floodplain landscape before climbing quite steeply to the Taunusblick, where you can enjoy a 180-degree view all the way to the Feldberg.

At the ‘Scheppen’ orchard meadow, a picnic area invites you to linger before the route continues past the Hahner swimming pool and climbs steeply up to the refuge at Dieling. Far below, the enchanting Kotzebach Path runs along the eastern branch of the Kotzebach, past natural woodland where ancient trees and deadwood provide habitats for animals, fungi and mosses.

Towards the end of the walks, you’ll be rewarded once again with beautiful views at the Watzhahner Fenster and the Sunneplätzje (sunny spot).
