Park in the village of La Réunion in the car park opposite the town hall, near the church and the cemetery.
(S/E) Leave the car park and turn left. At the top of the hill, turn right and carry on straight along the road until you reach the Route de Damazan.
(1) Turn left, then immediately right, and take a path into the woods.
(2) Leave the main track, continue straight on and pass between two wooden posts. At the next fork, turn left onto a path that goes straight down and joins the Route de Nérac.
(3) Cross the road and continue along the path, keeping to the left; after the bend to the right, follow the stream on your left until you reach the Route de la Forge.
(4) Turn left and walk past the fish farm on your left. Follow the road as it climbs and passes some terraced houses on a bend, then take the track on the right. Follow it to the end.
(5) Carry on to the left onto Route de Houeillès. Follow the road and turn right shortly afterwards, towards Pindères.
(6) Immediately afterwards, turn right and take the track leading to Center Parc, then go round it. Follow this track until it joins the Pindères–Beauziac road.
(7) Turn left and ride on to Pindères. In the village, turn right towards La Fille/Lartigue.
(8) After a small bridge, ignore the dirt track on the right and continue along the road. Take the first track on the right. Keep following it straight ahead.
(9) Turn right at a right angle and follow the track until you reach a T-junction.
(10) Turn left, then right at the three-way junction.
(11) At the cross-road, turn left (opposite an abandoned house).
Follow the path until you reach the Casteljaloux–Saint-Michel-de-Castelnau road.
Cross the road and take the path that goes straight on to a crossroads where several paths fan out.
(12) Take thesecond path on the left, heading due north, and continue keeping to the right. Cross a stream and reach a fork in the path.
(13) Turn right and carry on until you reach a T-junction.
(14) Turn left, then take the first path on the right. It is advisable to have your phone in GPS mode whilst cycling at this point.
(15) When you reach the white track at La Gare, turn right and follow it to the end, keeping to the right. At the end, at the Route de Beauziac, turn left and continue for a few metres.
(16) Opposite the church, continue to the right along a track. You’ll reach a junction of tracks.
(17) Ignore the hairpin bend to the left and, after a few metres to the right, take the path on the left. Follow it and, after a stretch of sand, turn left. Follow the path straight on until you reach a road and some houses. Turn right.
(18) Turn left, then turn right onto a path that runs past a house. Follow the path until you reach the white track. Turn right and continue straight on to Casteljaloux. Pass the care home and the health centre, then turn right.
(19) At the Route de Saint-Michel-de-Castelnau, turn left and cross the Route de Houeillès. Carry on straight ahead, turn left at the end onto the Rue des Arènes, then right at the Place Louis Jean Capes onto the Rue de l’Avance. Cross a bridge over the Avance.
(20) Follow the path to the right just after the bridge, cross another wooden bridge and turn left immediately afterwards to join the Route de la Forge, which leads to La Taillade. Turn right.
(21) At the three-way junction, turn left, go uphill a little, then take a path on the right. Follow it straight on, keeping to the left. Be careful – it’s uphill and there’s sand. Note the presence of pidgeon hunting huts.
At the Route de Nérac, turn left – be careful as visibility is poor when crossing – then immediately turn right. Walk between the houses.
(22) At the next junction, turn right and take a path on the left. Follow it, keeping to the left, until you reach the Damazan road. Turn right, then immediately left, towards La Réunion. Take care when crossing. Follow the road, passing the tennis courts on your left, turn right and head for the car park opposite the town hall (S/E).
It’s a shame that the track disappears from time to time, either due to a lack of maintenance (very tall grass) or after forestry vehicles have passed through (it’s difficult to follow a track between the tracks left by the caterpillar tracks or the fallen tree trunks), but it’s still a lovely ride.
