Park in the small car park in the Porte de Valromey industrial estate.
(S/E) Cross Rue de Lyon (D904) at the pedestrian crossing and take the path opposite. Continue straight on at the junction to climb up to La Madone.
(1) Head back down to the junction via the same path and, this time, turn right. The path curves sharply to the right before reaching a crossroads.
(2) Turn right and head towards the campsite entrance.
(3) Cross the bridge over the Séran, then first turn left then right to head towards Cerveyrieu. Pass the oven and the fountain opposite.
(4) Take the small path on the right which climbs towards the cliff. You will come out onto the Chemin du Golet au Loup and continue on to the D31, Route de la Cascade.
(5) Turn left and walk carefully along the left-hand side of this road.
(6) Turn left, cross the bridge, then turn left again to reach the Cerveyrieu Waterfall.
(7) Turn back, cross the small road and follow the path along the Séran on the right, towards the Bois de Lichen. You’ll come out onto a small road; turn right to immediately reach the Route de la Bavoisière (D30).
(8) Cross carefully and take the path opposite. Continue along the tarmac road to reach the junction with Rue de Thurignin.
(9) Turn right towards the Gorges de Thurignin.
(10) Turn right, cross the Séran over the large rocks and head left for a few dozen metres. Then turn right onto the path, following the sign for “Vieu”. Climb the slope, which is the last challenge of the day. Pass the vineyards and turn right to reach the D31.
(11) Cross carefully and take the road opposite for about a hundred metres. Then turn right at a 90° angle towards the village of Vieu.
(12) At the crossroads, turn left then right onto Rue des Seez. At the end of the street, turn left to reach Vieu.
(13) A stop at the church is a must before continuing towards the castle. Carry on straight ahead to make a wide right-hand bend at the edge of the woods.
(14) Please note: take the path on the left and pass the Fontaine de l'Adoue. At the end, turn left. Keep left at the inverted Y-junction and continue for several hundred metres.
(15) Head down to the right into the woods to discover the Source du Groin.
(16) Turn back and rejoin the route on the right.
(17) Cross the Arvière and pass through Vaux Morets.
(18) At the junction, turn right towards Artemare. Pass the power station and join the Route de Champagne.
(19) Turn left then continue straight on to follow the Route de Sautard and join the D31.
(20) Follow the D-road in the same direction until you reach the junction with the Grande Rue (D904). Go straight on. Cross the bridge over the Séran and you’ll find the car park on the left (S/E).
