Description of the walk

This hike is all downhill, which doesn't happen often!

(S) Starting from the Col de Palet refuge, climb (this is the only difficult part) to the Col du Palet.

(1) Take the path on the right towards the Col de la Croix des Frêtes.

(2) Continue downhill towards the south-west, passing the Grand Plan lake, and you will see the following on your left:
- La Grande Motte,
- La Grande Casse.
Continue straight ahead, passing close to the Grand Plan chalets.

(3) You will then reach the Chalet des Gardes and Plan du Sel.
Continue along this path, which zigzags and descends more steeply until you reach the Glière refuge on your left.

(4) Change direction (north-north-west) and follow the path on the right bank of the Torrent de Champagny for a good five kilometres. You will reach the hamlets of Laisonnay-d'en-Haut and Laisonnay-d'en-Bas

(5). Cross them and the torrent to find yourself on its left bank. Leave the road and take the path that winds along the torrent to Friburge.

(6). Cross the bridge in this hamlet to find yourself back on the right side of the stream on the discovery trail.
Enter Champagny-le-Haut, where you should turn left to reach the Bois refuge (E).

In Champagny-le-Haut, Camping le Canada.

Worth a visit

Between (6) and (S/E) This valley is very pleasant, fairly enclosed with fields of flowers and marmots. Superb view of La Grande Motte as a bonus.

Clearly a transitional stage on the route.
No difficulty, it's more of a stroll.

Personally, we set off from the Refuge de la Glière and went to the Refuge du Grand Bec.
