Sparsbach: via Englishberg and Ochsenstall
A pleasant hike to stretch your legs. Ideal in early May when nature is waking up. Passes by an impressive rocky outcrop (beautiful view) and caves. Most of the walk is in the shade and the hike follows a river on the last part of the route. Also pleasant in the height of summer.

Ochsenstein Castle via the Druids' Stone
Discover the beautiful ruins of Ochsenstein Castle after walking along the impressive rocky outcrops of Wuestenberg, Krappenfels and Schlossberg. The first part of this hike follows a well-shaded path, whilst the second part offers magnificent views over the Alsace plain.
⚠️ 21/04/2026: From spring 2025, parking is mandatory at the Billebaum car park (the road to the Haberacker forest house is now closed to motor traffic). This adds a 15-minute walk (one way) to the forest house, via a small path to the left of the forest road, and does not add any elevation gain to this hike.
Lichtenberg Castle from Ingwiller
A pleasant hike of moderate difficulty, culminating in the magnificent Lichtenberg Castle.
You will walk mainly on paths and through a deciduous forest, enjoying the early spring sunshine but staying in the shade in summer.
The Wegelnburg via the Fleckenstein
The destination is the Wegelnbug, the highest ruin in the Palatinate, offering breathtaking 360° views.
The ascent takes you past Fleckenstein Castle, whilst the descent offers the chance to visit Hohenbourg and Loewenstein Castles.
An ideal hike for children. A fun (but chargeable) tour of Fleckenstein, with a playground near the Gimbelhof.
