La Bachasse on the edge of the artificial lake at Grangent
An easy, mostly shaded walk with beautiful views of Lake Grangent at the start and the rest in the forest. The route is dotted with informative and entertaining signs about the flora and fauna. The site is currently being restored to a natural forest after being planted with Douglas firs in the last century. Ideal for family walks and/or hot weather.
The Bois du Fayet and the Piolan bog
An easy walk suitable for all ages, passing through the varied landscapes characteristic of the Gavot plateau: woodland, forest edges, meadows, marshes and peat bogs. Several beautiful views of the Dent d’Oche and glimpses of Lake Geneva and the Jura.
Circular walk at the foot of Mont Baron starting from Prébuza
An easy walk but with fairly significant elevation changes and a walking time of nearly5 hours. Beautiful views over the Gavot plateau, Lake Geneva, the Jura and Switzerland, the Dent d’Oche massif, the mountain pastures and the Abondance valley. The final section, along a road (with very little traffic), is the least pleasant.
⚠️ Please note: 8 August 2026, new report from a user >Important information: access to the summit of Mont Baron is strictly prohibited. >We attempted to reach it from Vacheresse, but on arriving at Le Replain, signs indicated that the alpine pastures of Les Boeufs, Mont Baron and Les Grandes Heures were part of private property and were therefore off-limits to walkers from Vacheresse and Bernex. >All the relevant directions on the official beige signposts have either been crossed out, covered with tape or replaced.
