A peaceful cycle ride along the Voie Verte Sud Ardenne, which runs alongside the Canal des Ardennes from Château-Porcien to Pont-à-Bar, punctuated by the numerous locks.To compensate for the difference in level between the Canal des Ardennes and the Meuse, between Le Chesne and Rilly-sur-Aisne, no fewer than 27 locks line the canal, 17 of which are within the Montgon area. Follow the Canal des Ardennes, discover its locks, via a short detour to the Château de La Cassine, and the passage through the Saint-Aignan tunnel.

This long-distance walk links Château-Porcien , in the heart of the Southern Ardennes, to Verzenay, in the heart of the Champagne vineyards. The route tells a story of landscapes and agricultural production: starting with the vast cereal-growing plains of the Porcien; then the River Aisne and the Ardennes Canal, former routes for the transport of goods; Asfeld and its stunning Baroque church; the locks and hydraulic structures of the Canal Latéral à l’Aisne; Reims, the historic capital of Champagne; and finally the vineyard-covered slopes of the Montagne de Reims and the Verzenay lighthouse.A route that takes us from wheat to grapes, from farmland to vineyards, largely following the old waterways that once enabled produce and goods to be transported.
