Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 18 m - From our meeting place at the garden area on Blairforkie Drive walk up the gradually climbing road that is Blairforkie Drive and continue on and join Glen Road. About 200 metres or so past the entrance to Fishers Green on your left you will come to a fork in the road.
  2. 2 : km 1.66 - alt. 77 m - Go straight ahead on to Old Glen Road previously the back road and now a walking route to Dunblane. Proceed along this pleasant winding tree lined road taking great care as there is erosion in parts, uneven surfaces, gravel and after rain there will be mud in places. Amble along and you will cross the Wharrieburn followed by a short gentle uphill stretch which will take you to the tarmac road. Houses on the right hand side and a cottage on the left.
  3. 3 : km 2.89 - alt. 115 m - Walk along and you will come to a small hamlet and Sheriffmuir Road is on the right. Go straight ahead on Old Glen Road and join Glen Road.
  4. 4 : km 3.15 - alt. 128 m - Descend on Glen Road until turning left through a gate which leads into Ochlochy Park (This gate is immediately after a house called “Craigewan”). Take the banana break here.
  5. 5 : km 4.7 - alt. 86 m - Leave the Park by the same entrance and walk down to the bottom of Glen Road.
  6. 6 : km 4.84 - alt. 75 m - Turn left onto the main B8033 road and walk down on the left hand pavement until you see a sign for the Darn Road.
  7. 7 : km 5.12 - alt. 68 m - Turn left on to the Darn Road and follow this along. Dunblane Golf Course is on your left. The path narrows to a track along the right hand side of the Golf Course. Walk in single file along this track which will bring you to a wider path. There is a wall on the right hand side and a field on the left. Stoney track continues and then slowly drops down over a very uneven and wet section of stepping stones which must be negotiated with great care.
  8. 8 : km 6.52 - alt. 54 m - Pass through a wooded area. Trees have been felled on the left of the path and there is a wall on the right. *The path gently slopes down over a rough wet stoney area, rarely dry due to an underground spring. Best to keep to the right hand side and have the wall for support. Again the path crosses the Wharrieburn on a sturdy wooden bridge. Take the right hand track and walk along – the Allan Water will be on your right now until joining Blairforkie Drive.
  9. 9 : km 8.42 - alt. 22 m - The path continues along and you will see a cave on your left, go over a small bridge and steps to an upper path. Walk along and round into a dell with stepping stones over a stream and steps up the other side. Keep to the right and join the path, narrow in places, and walk along the side of the Allan Water and rejoin Blairforkie Drive.
  10. S/E : km 8.62 - alt. 20 m
