Description

(S/E) From the car park exit through the southern kissing gate and immediately follow the path around to the right to complete a full 180 degree turn, pass through another kissing gate to cross a service road. Pass through a kissing gate on the other side and follow the tarmac path until you reach a metal fingerpost

(1) Bear left down to the edge of the river and continue with it on your left until you reach another metal fingerpost.

(2) Continue with the river on your left to the car park.

(3) Here turn right uphill following NCN 5 signs under two tunnels to a corner near to houses.

(4) Turn left and continue to follow NCN 5 signs.

(5) Turn left as NCN goes right to follow the footpath to the river.

(6) Turn right and cross the river via a double swing bridge and continue along a track, at a T-junction turn right along a minor tarmac lane until its junction with the A556.

(7) Turn right and cross the blue bridge, then turn hard right to descend to the river again.

(8) Turn left and continue with the river on your right back to the locks.

(6) Continue with the river on your right.

(3) Cross the car park and return to the metal fingerpost along the outward route.

(2) Bear left at the metal fingerpost.

(1) Return to the car park via outward route.(S/E)

The walk was an easy to follow river walk and was interesting with some fine views including the industrial rock salt depot.

Some in shade but not all so be aware if you’re walking a dog.
