Description

Start : Brighton Baths Health Club and sea pool car park, 251 Esplanade, Brighton VIC 3186, Australia

(S/E) From the front of Brighton Baths Health Club, turn left (North) and walk past the pier on your left.

(1) At the end of the pier, you can choose to take a detour here at the start or the end to enjoy an incredible view of Melbourne Skyline at the end of it. Otherwise, carry straight on the boardwalk past the Royal Brighton Yacht Club on your right-hand. Cross the footbridge and past a statue of a dog. Keep walking along the paved footpath with the water on your left-hand for almost 7Km.

(2) Just before reaching Elwood Bathers restaurant (white building on the beachside in front of you), turn right along Head Street, just before the car park. Be careful crossing the cycle path. Walk on the grass parallel of the road along the soccer field on your left-hand side.

When you pass the bowling club on your left-hand, walk diagonally left across the garden towards the busy road junction (Saint Kilda street and Ormond Esplanade). Wait for the pedestrian signal to be green and walk towards the garden centre in front of you.

(3) Past the garden centre entrance, cross the road right with care to reach Elsternwick Park entrance. Bear left following the path parallel with the road (Saint Kilda Street) to reach the road junction (Saint Kilda Street and Ormond Road) with a coffee shop at its corner. On your way, past a pond on your right-hand. Carry straight on the safe pavement along Saint Kilda Street to reach a bridge.

(4) Just before the bridge, cross the road with care to find a footpath going down parallel Elwood Canal. Take this footpath, sharing it with cyclists. Walk along the canalside, pass the first bridge straight ahead. At the second bridge, cross the canal right then turn immediately left along the canalside again. Carry on the canalside all the way to Marine Parade (33) busy road crossing several bridges along the way.

(5) When you reach Marine Parade road, use the safe pedestrian crossing at the traffic light to walk towards the bay. Carry straight on the safe footpath, past a wooden bridge on your right-hand. The footpath curves left as it reaches the bayside. You are now walking with the water/bay on your right-hand side.

(6) Walk South and as you see a tower on a hill on your right-hand side, walk up towards it so you can enjoy a view of Melbourne skyline and Saint Kilda beach. After enjoying the view, walk downhill towards the kiosk and toilets.

(7) When you are in front of the toilets, cross the cycle path with care and carry on walking along the bayside for almost 3Km and get back to the car park at Brighton Baths Health Club. On the way map, you can see the route makes some detours to hidden spots and viewpoints to enjoy. (E)
