The tour starts at the hiking parking lot between Badenweiler and Britzingen (Schwärzestraβe).
(S/Z) The first part of the hike leads through a beautiful mixed forest up to the Britzinger Eichwald and the ruin Neuenfels. From the parking lot, cross the road, then turn right and immediately left.
(1) The Ehebach is crossed and we follow the Neuenfelsenweg to the half-left. Go straight over the next intersection.
(2) The Ruine Neuenfels is reached. Neuenfels Castle was built in the 13th century and is located on a 595 m high mountain spur. Until the 16th century it was owned by the knightly dynasty "von Neuenfels". A plaque on the stairs to the tower explains the "spooky" history of the inhabitants.
Return in the direction of Schwärze via Neuenfelserweg to Theodor-Braus-Weg, here turn left.
(3) Shortly after walking on the Tannwaldweg to the right, the geological hiking trail leaves on the left as a "shortcut". Alternatively, continue along the Tannwaldweg in the direction of the Dammbachweg and cross it on the way to the Schwärze hiking parking lot.
At the Tannwald site, turn left, cross the Ehebach again and return to Schwärze.
(S/Z) It goes past the hikers' parking lot and then straight ahead. With the middle Steinwaldweg we enter the circuit of the Steinberg and follow the path through the forest.
(4) Passing the Philips-Linde, keeping to the left and then to the right, the Britzinger Weg leads us in the direction of Niederweiler with its magnificent, sun-drenched vineyards.
(5) At Römerberg, not far from the vineyards, we turn left and walk around the 530 m high Steinberg (6) on the way back to Schwärze (S/Z)
