Panoramic views & a journey through time – hike from Erlahammer to Pöhla

UNESCO World Heritage Site, sweeping views and Ore Mountains charm on the Silberberg hiking trail and the E3.

The tour begins at Herrenhof Erlahammer, an impressive ensemble of half-timbered buildings and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří Mining Region. A small exhibition on regional history sets the mood for the hike.
The trail then leads uphill across meadows, fields and through shady forests – always accompanied by beautiful views of the valley and the Ore Mountains. In Pöhla, it is worth stopping at the ski jump and the idyllic pond with rest areas.
From here, the route follows the E3 long-distance hiking trail through the village and uphill on a quiet road.
It then returns to Herrenhof through open countryside and forest.

Description of the walk

Start: Start at Herrenhof Erlahammer

Markings: "Wanderbarer Silberberg" and "Fernwanderweg E3"

(S/E) Walk along the main road towards the town. From here, follow the signs for "Wanderbarer Silberberg".

(1) Turn right and walk past the apartment blocks and through a garden area. The path then leads through a small wood and continues uphill.
Keep to the left and follow the path across the fields to some trees.
Keep to the right there, then turn left uphill and continue across the fields to the road.

(2) At the road, hikers turn left and immediately right again onto the stone wall. Follow the path uphill until you reach the top.
Keep right at the next fork until you reach a road. Follow this road about 100 metres downhill to the left, then turn right onto the meadow.

(3) Follow the path to the edge of the forest, keep left there and after a short while follow the signs to the right into the forest.
Once you reach the bottom, the ski jump is waiting for you opposite.

(4) Behind the ski jump, the path curves back to the road, which you follow to the right through the village until you see steps leading downhill on the right. A few metres further on is the football pitch.

(5) Turn left there and leave the "Wanderbarer Silberberg" (Hiking Silver Mountain). Keep left at the main road and follow the signs for the European long-distance hiking trail E3.

(6) Walk uphill along the road, which curves to the right, and continue until the E3 branches off to the right above a viewing bench.
Follow this path across fields with sweeping views until it meets a road.
Turn right there and then immediately turn left off the road.
After a short while, keep left again – downhill towards the forest.

(7) Walk past the first trees on the right and enter the forest.
Continue downhill, past a garden area and then left to the main road.
After about 100 metres along the main road, you will reach the starting point at Herrenhof Erlahammer again. (S/E)
