Old town charm and European traces in Schwarzenberg

Old town idyll, history and panoramic views around Schwarzenberg

The tour starts at the historic Erlahammer manor, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří Mining Region. A small exhibition introduces visitors to the region's eventful history.
From here, the route continues uphill along the Silberberg hiking trail through meadows, fields and woods, with ever-widening views. In Pöhla, the ski jump dominates the townscape and an idyllic pond invites you to take a break.
Then you continue along the European long-distance hiking trail E3 towards Schwarzenberg, accompanied by magnificent panoramic views. In Schwarzenberg, the old town with its castle invites you to explore at length before finally returning to the manor house along the Schwarzwasser river.

Walk uphill along the road, which curves to the right, and continue until the E3 branches off to the right above a viewing bench.
Follow this path across fields with sweeping views until it meets a road.
Turn right there and then immediately turn left off the road.
Continue to follow the path until it meets another road after a while.
Follow this to the left and, immediately after the river, keep left twice.
Stay on the right side of the river and make your way up to the castle.

Keep left again here and continue to follow the EB.
After the houses, hikers turn right. The path leads along a small stream.
Turn left onto Bermsgrüner Straße and after a few hundred metres turn left again onto the street "Am Rockelmann". After a short time you will reach the Waldbühne in Schwarzenberg.

(4) At the lower end of the Waldbühne, turn right and walk downhill through an allotment garden.
In the valley, turn right onto Kirchsteig, which will take you to Gießereistraße after a short while.
Keep left and eventually cross the railway tracks and the river.

Worth a visit

Author's tip

The Perla Castrum Museum in Schwarzenberg Castle offers interesting insights into the history of the town, including the period after the Second World War, when the town was "forgotten" and remained unoccupied for several weeks.
