Chaumes and forests of the Rossberg massif
The protected Rossberg massif boasts some of the most beautiful pastoral pastures in the Vosges mountains. They were once home to numerous marcairies(1), of which several farmhouse inns(2) remain today. With their magnificent views of the neighbouring valleys, the southern Alsace plain, the Jura, the Black Forest and the Alps, they are sure to delight hikers.
The Wegscheid Volcano Forest
A Regional Nature Reserve, the Wegscheid Forest(1) features a landscape shaped by its volcanic past. Beech, fir, oak and maple trees grow in tiers or intermingle amongst the scree, on a steep and rugged slope dotted with volcanic rocks and overlooked by the Vogelstein Rocks.After winding your way along the paths to explore these sights, the walk leads out into the open countryside, bathed in the light of the Rossberg and Belacker hills, offering exceptional panoramic views.

The Rossberg and the Thanner Hubel
A hike that will allow you to discover a beautiful Vosges peak, the Rossberg, which offers a magnificent view of the entire massif, from the Ballon d’Alsace to the Grand Ballon and the Honneck, and, on a clear day, the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. A place that remains free from cars and crowds as no road leads there!

The Thannerhubel and Rossberg mountain pastures from Bourbach le Haut
Starting from the centre of Bourbach-le-Haut, this is a lovely mountain walk accessible to most people, allowing you to explore – after passing through pleasant forests on both the ascent and descent – the Thannerhubel and Rossberg ridges and to enjoy magnificent 360° views of the Bernese Alps (Eiger, Munsch, Jungfrau...) and even the Mont Blanc massif, the Black Forest and the Vosges mountains (Grand Ballon, Markstein, etc.)
