In the south of the Île d’Oléron, in the commune of Grand-Village-Plage, a large salt marsh has been developed to give visitors an insight into salt production and the work of the salt workers. Description of the walk

Port des Salines car park.

(S/E) From the car park, head towards the marshes. Go round the building on the left and follow the path leading towards La Salorge. Pass the shed and continue along the waterway until you reach the bridge.

(1) Cross the bridge and turn left at the other end. Continue along the single path which is circular and loops round the marsh to the Relais des Salines. Walk round it via its wooden terrace and head for the bridge leading back to the opposite bank.

Continue past the buildings on the left to reach the car park at the starting point (S/E).
