Tour of Hindsgavl Deer Park

This circular route is the medium-length route among the three official trails offered on the Hindsgavl peninsula, in the heart of Lillebælt Nature Park. The route runs along the wild north coast, where you can see the two Little Belt bridges, and crosses the historic grounds of Hindsgavl Castle. Its main feature is that half the route is within the wildlife park enclosure and half outside it, offering a wonderful combination of architectural heritage and the chance to observe the park’s large deer.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park near Hindsgavl Castle.

Red markings

(S/E) From the car park, with the castle on your left, head straight on and follow the road for about 100 metres before taking the first left and then the first right. Continue along the path running alongside the road on the right.

(1) Cross Galsklintvej road with care, then take the first right. Turn left at the three-way junction. Head towards the yellow building.

(2) Walk past the building and continue straight ahead.

(3) Further on, go under the old Little Belt Bridge, then past Kongebro harbour , and turn right just before the cemetery. Follow the path uphill.

(4) Turn right along Kongebrovej, cross the road carefully and turn left just before the exit from the village of Middelfart. Turn right then left, and join Adlerhusvej.

(5) Still taking care, cross theroad once to reach the pavement and continue straight ahead, then cross asecond time to turn right onto Brovejen and athird time to turn left onto the path running alongside Hindsgavl Alle. Continue straight ahead until you reach the car park (S/E).
