Tour of Haut-Barr Castle and its foothills

Start at the Haut-Barr Castle car park

(S/E) Head to the car park entrance and the Yellow Ring marked trail.

(1) Follow the path to the right which circles the site.

(2) Then leave the castle and head down to the left towards Saverne via the Red Rectangle marked trail. Then ignore the Red Ring marked trail coming from the left.

(3) At the foot of the hill, leave the forest and follow the Green Ring markings to the right, which lead to the hamlet of La Garenne.

(4) Follow the road to the right.

(5) After La Garenne, head back up into the forest following the Red Triangle and Green Ring markings (nature trail), which start on the right.

(6) At the next junction, take the path on the right which climbs steeply towards Haut-Barr and leads to the car park (S/E).

The footbridge of the Pont du Diable connects two of the three sandstone rocks on which the castle is built.
