Start : The Travellers Friend, Crookham Common (RG19 8EA) Grid ref. SU 536643
(S/E) Walk a few yds torwards Newbury and take the footpath sign on the left to one side of a house, and follow the track downhill into the Enborne Valley. The footpath goes behind the derelict red brick cottage, and then forward across open fields, nearing the river.
(1) Cross the new footbridge, then bear left through a hedge and across a small field into a wood. The path rises through the wood, and comes out on the Headley-Ashford Hill road near the top of Goose Hill.
(2) Turn left for 500 yds then left again onto a marked footpath that goes forward for 700 yds before kinking to the right to meet the Bailey bridge recrossing the Enborne.
(3) Over the bridge, follow the metalled lane quite steeply uphill to the main road.
(4) Turn left for the pub in 500 yds.(S/E)

Drive to start & parking : About five miles from Newbury via Bury's Bank Road. Turn right at the end and keep straight on until you arrive. This pub has now closed and is being converted for other use. You may be able to park there or nearby.
