Description of the walk

Start : The Red Lion, Chieveley (RG20 8XB) Grid ref. SU 475737

(S/E) Turn left from the pub.

(1) Take the third turning left in some 600yds – there is a footpath sign. After 100yds down the lane, take the footpath to the right and bear right for about 800yds to the end of the field.

(2) Go left for 300yds, then go half right across the cultivated field for 700yds till it joins a leafy track.

(3) Now turn sharp left and follow the track for a mile, past Hazelhanger Farm downhill to some more farm buildings.

(4) Take the marked footpath (not on the map) behind a large barn, and follow this till it meets another footpath by a garden seat.

(5) Follow the left-hand path uphill between hedges until it joins the footpath you used on the way out, then return along the lane and the road to the pub. (S/E)
