Description of the walk

Park in the spaces on the lakeside in the village of Bauduen (S/E).
Start the hike along the left-hand side of the lake (leaving the path on the right (1) which heads towards the houses in Véris) to join up with the GR99B along the lakeshore at the watersports centre.
Stay on the GR until you reach a picnic area. Before reaching the northern point of the peninsula, the path becomes more strenuous (2). You will need to use your hands (it is advised that hiking poles are retracted and put away in your bag) to go through the rocky section which takes about 20 minutes. This section can be slippery - be especially on your guard in wet weather.
You then reach the lakeside beaches before meeting a large path which takes you to the crossroads of the GR 2 at ref. point 491 (3).
Take the GR99A on the right which, through a relatively short climb, reaches the high point of the loop (697m).
Then make your descent via the Caletty Gorge to return to Bauduen and the car park (S/E).

A very pleasant route, but with a very technical section at around 3.7km with a little rock climbing. Another difficulty at 8.2km with a nice little hill of 1km with a D+ of around 170m! It took us 2h48 to complete this walk.

This is a great walk to do at the moment, as the lake is full of water, which is very beautiful when you walk along the banks. The flowers offer a firework display of colour. Be careful when you reach the part where you have to climb the rocks, as the path is not signposted and many hikers climb too high and fail to see the fork in the road on the left that leads back down to the banks. There is a bit of a climb on the way back, so keep your strength up. A very pleasant walk with views of the lake and the mid-mountain range in the distance, which is a beautiful sight.

Walk in very fine weather. Splendid scenery.
The guidance via the app is very good.
The level of difficulty indicated corresponds to the level on the ground.
Crossing the rocks near point N2 is not really a problem. Good concentration and, above all, dry weather will get you through this section.

Interesting trail, varied as it alternates between forest and lake shore.
We did the route in reverse, the climb at the beginning is a bit long, and before the end, a tricky part to cross the rocks but above all very very badly signposted!

Hello
17th October 2024
GPS starting point that leads to a place where it is very difficult to park, so go back down and park in the car park at the entrance to the village, close to the tourist office and portable water point. Other parking facilities further away. A very easy walk along the lake, then the GR 99 sign plus the signpost to turn around? Out of the question. I carried on but there were no signposts, so it was very easy to take the wrong path. At one point there was a bit of climbing on very slippery rocks. After that, the path runs alongside the lake, with beautiful scenery and secluded beaches. But the route is not well signposted. Some climbing towards the end to justify the medium difficulty classification, then a long descent to the village.
Very pleasant route.

Nice route, to be done in this direction to avoid descending to point 2.
It's incomprehensible that the markings on this route have been removed, as the so-called "tricky" part in the rocks is easy to do, with only two spots a few metres long requiring you to use your hands. In the worst case, a chain would have sufficed.
The return is via the signposted GR.

Very varied. A challenging section on the rocks, but not too difficult (we were with our 4-year-old daughter, who managed it with our help). Beautiful views of Lac de Sainte-Croix from the beaches.

Beautiful views, beautiful route, but there's a 20-minute section that's very, very difficult: borderline rock-climbing!
Stones to climb, slippery and the route not very visible on this section. It's a shame.

Same remark: from the village to the rocks, no difficulties ... The rock-climbing part is quite tricky in wet weather and it's hard to find the track among the rocks (I climbed a bit high)...
Otherwise very pleasant!

Hello, it's important to know that this hike has been broken up and that the passage through the rocks is particularly demanding.

The first part of the hike is on a passable track that could be very busy as it's a popular swimming spot.

Apart from that, the section up to the rocks is quite pleasant.

This tour should not be done in all weathers or by people with little experience. The part where you climb requires you not to be afraid of heights. What's more, it's not signposted at all. The rest of the walk is easy, with an incredible view of the lake at the end.
Avoid with young children and dogs.

Starting out from a very pretty village around Lac de St Croix, the walk begins with a path that winds as close as possible to the lake, with pretty views over it that are very easy to follow. The only difficult part for some hikers is the climb up the stone wall (steep but not dangerous) and the descent. You can picnic on a beach by the lake. Finally, there's a nice climb up to the village, which is well worth a visit. A fine hike for experienced hikers.

Route taken on 18 February
We chose to walk along the lake at the start, which was very pleasant.
The tricky part is at level 2. Despite the GPS, we had a bit of trouble keeping our bearings, especially on a path that took us into the forest. You have to follow the rocks as close as possible to the lake and identify them by their wear and tear, signs of frequent passage.
Between 2 and 3 there were many small beaches when we passed (but this probably depends on the level of the lake, which was very high at the time).
Between point 4 and the Gorges de Caletty we came across 4 barking patous. In the end, the encounter went well: we stopped, spoke to them calmly without looking them in the eye, and after a few caresses they rejoined their herd (which was probably a little further south from the sound of their bells).

A very nice, original walk that combines a very pleasant lakeside circuit with a fine climb in the rocks, not to be taken in the opposite direction! A walk along the shellfish beach where you don't feel like you're in BAUDUEN, then a series of pleasant bends on a gradual ascent. quite frankly, a nice level 2 walk.
