Description of the walk

Start : From Place du 8 Mai 1945, 30 700 Blauzac

(S/E) Go down the Rue de l'Hôtel de Ville to the bottom of the village, direction 'Le Code'. At the T-junction, turn left, then right into Chemin des Capitelles. At the end of the street, turn right into Chemin du Pont Romain.

(1) At the next intersection, at a well, turn left onto a path that you follow until you reach a fork.

(2) Turn right onto Chemin des Capitelles. Go North-East and ignore the first path on the right.

(3) At the crossroads of paths, turn left on the path (Chemin de Sares et Prelong) towards Aillargues. At the top of the path, on your right, you will find a capitelle with a pyramidal roof. At the junction (cote 123), turn right and stay on the main path.

(4) Turn right at an acute angle towards the Guiraud hut. Shortly after, the path turns left. At a fork in the road, turn left. Ignore the path that is immediately on your left as you enter. Pass in front of the three capitelles. The path forks to the left, then to the right (at a capitelle), then to the left again before joining the wide path. Then turn right.

(5) At the next junction (capitelle integrated in the wall of a property - Mas de la Librotte), turn right. At the next intersection turn left, then at the next one turn right. Continue uphill through a wooded and stony area until you reach the intersection of several paths. Shortly before this intersection, on the left, in the middle of the olive trees, there is a very beautiful capitelle.

(6) Continue straight ahead passing the green water tank. Shortly after, the path turns left following a low stone wall, thus bypassing a very tidy wooded area with mazets (huts) and capitelles, before turning left again at a ruined mazet (without roof). Ignore the path on the right and then another on the left. The path narrows and goes down to two capitelles side by side. Continue until the next crossing.

(7) Turn left (yellow cross - not marked) and follow the path to the road.

(8) Turn right to reach the Grand Mas (Maison Familiale Rurale). Pass between majestic plane trees and, after crossing the small bridge, follow the path on the right that goes along the river to the Roman Bridge. Cross it and continue to the next intersection.

(9) Continue straight ahead, skirting the Malaïgue estate and ignoring the first path on the right.

(10) Turn right. Take the first path on the left along a cultivated field. This path turns right and then left and climbs the hill to the next intersection.

Turn left and continue straight ahead without worrying about the paths on either side. You will reach the crossroads from the outbound journey.

(3) Continue straight ahead (South-West). Leave a path on the right.

(2) Turn left and go down to the road.

(1) Cross the road and take the Chemin du Bassin which leads to the Rue Basse that you follow up to the Place du 8 Mai 1945 car park. (S/E).

A very pretty walk, I found the village of Blauzac and the route very clean and well maintained.
There are lots of routes and the GPS is very useful.
We walked 14 km with some pretty drystone shelters and a must-see bridge.
Worth doing again.

The route highlights the original drystone shelters as well as the Roman bridge and is easy because it is not very steep, ending with a visit to the beautiful Blauzac.

A beautiful walk through oak woods or paths through medieval forests.
There are many beautiful drystone shelters, all perfectly restored, and the Roman bridge is a real work of art. The only difficulty, easily corrected by GPS, is that the route crosses several others. Otherwise, there are no difficulties to report, the paths are well-maintained and the gradient is not very steep.

A must-do hike!
Not much of a climb, but the drystone shelters are remarkable, as is the Roman bridge, a little gem!

I extended the route by crossing the route d'Uzès, passing through Sagriès with a picnic stop at the washhouse (very pleasant) and returning to Blauzac along a yellow PR, crossing the route d'Uzès again and entering Blauzac along this PR, passing by the castle and the church. There is a signposted "visit the historic village" trail and information leaflets explaining the history of the area. Approximately 16.5 km and 300 m ascent.

Hello everyone
One comment about this route, having a GPS is very useful.
At point 7 it says to turn left but on the tree path to the right there's a cross and quite a few markers, so I deviated along an unmarked path and ended up on the prohibited route and no problem at first sight.
I think you can take the forbidden path, it's shorter and safer.
If anyone takes this forbidden path, it would be very useful to have some feedback.
José
