Description of the walk

Leave cars in the car park to the right of the church.

(S/E) Head north, cross the green space to reach the estate road (Rue des Fritillaires). At the right-hand bend, go straight on until you reach Route de la Savatterie.

(1) Turn right for 50 m then left between the houses, following the path down towards the Divatte.

(2) At the bottom, at the junction, turn left towards the grotto. Follow this winding path which, after a few rustic steps, leads to the clearing where the replica of the Grotto of Lourdes is located. Head back down to the picnic area and, keeping to the left, take the path that runs alongside the road to the bridge. Carefully make your way back up to the road, turn right to cross the bridge, and continue for about 100 m.

(3) Climb the short, steep slope on the left to reach the old embankment of the “Petit Anjou”. Note the information boards about this little train. Cross the iron bridge over the Divatte, follow the yellow markings which lead you along a meadow to a sunken track typical of the Wars of the Vendée, with its small well where the water is very close by. Return to the old railway line to reach the hamlet of La Hiardière.

(4) Head up the road to the left towards the old Remaudière station.

(5) Cross the D31 with care, then head straight on along the railway track. Continue to the hamlet of L’Enaudière.

(6) Turn left to find another lovely sunken lane leading to the Route de la Savinière. Continue right for about 400 m until you reach two paths branching off opposite each other.

(7) Turn left onto the wide, shaded path and continue straight on until you reach the D55.

(8) Cross safely to the other side and take the path running alongside the pollarded trees. Cross the small Sainte-Catherine road and continue to the abandoned hall. Turn left to pass through the animal enclosure and arrive at a three-way junction.

(9) Turn right and head towards the street near the town hall. Then turn left to reach the church car park (S/E).

Notes

(S/E) On the way back, you can use the picnic tables to rest and enjoy the route.
Toilet facilities are currently unavailable.
Bring water.
In wet weather and during winter, check the conditions before bringing a group here.
Other routes may start from this location: for the future!

Worth a visit

After the (1), see the remains of a watermill that was linked to the Boissière sailmill.

Between (2) and (3), take the time to read the information boards on the history of this charming little train.
Note the well-preserved iron bridge.
Don’t pass by without seeing the little well.
After (3) on the right is Le Loroux, on the left is La Remaudière. The station is in Le Loroux; the large house on the left straddles both parishes.
The hall is a real headache for this village.
The animals are friendly.

A nice little walk, even in winter; the muddy sections can easily be bypassed.
The section along the old railway line is very interesting.

A lovely route through the countryside, offering a glimpse into the history of the Anjou region and well signposted.
The information boards on the history of the railway are in need of restoration.
We combined this with the Landes route; we’ll be back to explore the other routes on offer in the area

A very pleasant first section along the river and the old railway line. Less interesting towards the end, with a stretch of road (around 1.6 km) through bare fields. The route is marked in yellow as it follows the same path as the Haute Divatte route.
