The starting point is Hotonnes Town Hall.
(S/E) From the trail map on the town hall wall, head towards the fountain and the mini-market, then after 100 metres turn left onto Rue du Crêt, heading north.
(1) Leave the village, leave the road on your left as you head towards the statue of the Virgin Mary, and continue along the tarmac road until you reach Rachet.
(2) Take the path on the right, following the hiking sign pointing towards "Sur le Geai" and the small sign for the maquis trail, which will guide you throughout the route. Climb up the path and you will arrive at the Sèche farm in the forest.
(3) Thefirst historical sign is located at the Sèche farm.
Continue climbing. Leave the path on your right that indicates the Croix du Mont. You will reach a crossroads with signposts.
(4) Turn right, following the sign for the Maquis trail. You will soon reach the Sur le Geai crossroads, under the high-voltage power lines.
(5) Turn right towards La Combette.
(6) Here you will find thesecond historical sign, for the Morez farm, which is now in ruins. Continue along the path to reach the Combette crossroads. The Combettes farm is completely destroyed; you will find thethird historical sign on the site.
(7) Follow the signs for "En Buyas". You will reach the Gabaret crossroads.
(8) At the crossroads, turn left, pass under the high-voltage power lines and continue to the En Buyas crossroads.
(9) Turn right and continue for about 300 metres until you reach the historical sign for Combe de Danoi and the Pré Carré farm.
(10) Turn around and return to the previous crossroads.
(9) Once back, turn right towards Les Plans d'Hotonnes. You will arrive above the biathlon stadium track.
(11) Follow the gravel path to the right and descend to the tarmac road and a crossroads.
(12) At the crossroads, continue in the same direction until you reach the very large crossroads in front of the Maison des Plans, then take a small road slightly to the left for about a hundred metres.
(13) You will see the Maquis monument, with the trail map sign next to it.
Retrace your steps back to the crossroads.
(12) Turn right towards the biathlon stadium. Pass in front of the biathlon stadium. Ignore the path on the left. Pass through Bordet, ignore the adjacent paths, and arrive at the Deschapoux cross.
(14) Continue southwards, walking alongside the Deschapoux farm, and you will soon reach thefifth historical sign for the Deschapoux farm.
(15) Continue along the path to the Sur le Geai crossroads, under the high-voltage lines.
(5) Turn right towards "retour Hotonnes" and you will soon reach the second crossroads on the way there.
(4) Turn right towards "retour Hotonnes" (not via Rachet). Head west downhill, passing the Lachat farm.
(16) At the Lagnieux crossroads, turn left onto the road heading south. After 400 metres, leave the tarmac road and take a path on the right. This will take you to "le chemin des Sioux" and its educational signs, before arriving at the road.
(17) Follow the road (D39) to the left, passing the hamlet of La Rivoire.
(18) At the Jubilee Cross, turn left, then return to the village of Hotonnes via Chemin du Crêt and the initial crossroads.
(1) Turn right and follow the same route as on the way there to return to the town hall car park (S/E).
