In the centre of Évosges, park on the square near the school, where there is a bus shelter and various noticeboards and information panels. Among them is a panel on the Sentier de la Mémoire (Path of Remembrance), which invites us to follow in the footsteps of the Ain maquisards.
No signposts
(S/E) With your back to the bus shelter, cross the main street that runs through the village and take the Côte à Ferrand opposite, to the right of the school. Ignore the Chemin de la Fruitière on the left and a hairpin bend on the right, then, at the fork just after, look for a Sentier de la Mémoire sign and turn left towards Ferme de Marchat.
Green markings: signposts and directional signs
(1) Continue along the small road, ignoring a path on the right at marker 18. When you reach marker 19, turn right onto a very small road. You will arrive at the La Laye information sign.
(2) Shortly afterwards, when the tarmac disappears, continue along the path, pass marker 20, enter the undergrowth, ignore two paths on the left and arrive at Ferme du Marchat.
(3) At marker 21, you can explore the site at your leisure, with information panels outside and inside. At the exit of the site, take the path on the left. Shortly afterwards, you will arrive at an intersection of several paths, marker 22. Follow the path furthest to the right (contrary to what the arrow on the directional sign may suggest, do not look for a path that branches off to the right at a right angle). Further on, you will arrive at a road.
(4) At marker 23, at the Au Terriau information panel, follow the road to the left for a little over 100 metres, then turn right onto a path towards Ferme de Termant.
(5) At the intersection, marker 25, follow the direction indicated by the signpost to the right and, at the intersection shortly after, go left towards marker 26. You will soon arrive at the ruins of the Fermes d'en Haut, then pass the ruins of the Ferme Boyeux. You will arrive at the Le Termant information board.
(6) Continue along the path, pass marker 27 and arrive at a crossroads at the end of a small road.
(7) Follow the road to the right, towards Retour village. Stay on this road until you reach Croix du Plan, marked by a cross and a marker.
(8) Go straight ahead, cross the D102 with caution and follow the path opposite, towards Retour village. At the next intersection, go straight ahead and rejoin the tarmac road at the first houses in Évosges. Ignore the street (Chemin de la Creusette) on the left and return to the intersection at the start of the circular route.
(1) Follow the street straight ahead, then turn left at the intersection. You will arrive at the main street at the round fountain. Turn right to quickly find the car park (S/E).
