Park your car in the small car park at the school in Saint-Sorlin-en-Bugey.
(S/E) Start the climb up to the church. Along this street, on the left, you will see a small head of Juno from the Gallo-Roman period on the façade of a house. Continue along the street.
(1) Note the beautiful Saint-Christophe house and its 16th-century mural. Continue to Place de la Halle.
(2) Turn left for a round trip to the 16th-century church built on Romanesque foundations.
Just below the church square and to the north, don't miss the small landscaped plateau and its beautiful view.
It is worth taking a tour of the cemetery, which has two unusual tombs. Return to the square.
(2) Turn left onto Montée du Mollard (Montée de la Fay?), which descends. Take a look at the castle of the same name. At the bottom, turn right to reach the road. Follow it to the left for 100 metres before turning right onto Chemin de la Durandière and reaching the Rhône on the ViaRhôna. Enjoy the beautiful views of the Château de la Durandière, formerly owned by the family of singer Zazie.
(3) Then follow the Rhône downstream to the end of this section of the ViaRhôna.
Take the departmental road on the left for a few metres.
(4) If conditions allow, make a round trip along the field via a farm track alongside the Ruisseau des Tournes stream. Pass in front of a pipe that spans the stream and see the ruins of the dovecote of the former leprosarium on your left. Turn around and return to the district road.
(4) On your return, turn right onto the road and continue for a few metres, then turn right again onto Rue du Moulin de Buis. Follow this road until you reach a discreet spot on the right where the path to the public park begins.
(5) Walk through the park to the children's playground, where you turn right and walk alongside the tennis courts.
At Rue Charles de Gaulle, turn left until you reach Chemin des Roches on the right. Climb this road until you reach the entrance to the path built on the old tramway line.
(6) Walk along this long, often shaded greenway for about 2 kilometres to reach Route du Port.
(7) Turn left and return to the school car park (S/E).
