During the season when the days are long, we went on this superb walk. You really must take the time to admire the unspoilt countryside and the many examples of rural heritage. The paths are magnificent and we hardly saw any tarmac. We stopped for lunch beside Lake Fraysse: a truly idyllic spot. The pretty villages of Cremps, Laburgade and Aujols are well worth a visit on foot. Furthermore, the Vallon des Conquettes (truffle fields) and the Combe de la Joyeuse are also worth a detour (very wild and far from everything: a haven of tranquillity). Particular attention should be paid to the Chemin des Puits (a rare find) and the little wash house at L’Escalier (with its beautiful houses). A poignant thought for the lady of the well beyond the L’Escalier wash house, who met her end in this sad place one night in August 1871. The beautiful Aujols wash house is remarkable and the ducks that inhabit it are very friendly. Off the route, you can also admire the pretty Lake Bournel (a short detour near Gascou). A walk to be taken and retaken without moderation: take a good picnic with plenty of sausages, cheese, good bread and good wine... and of course: plenty of water!
