Start: Car park next to the Puente de la Cantina
(S/E) The first couple of kilometres are tough as the route heads almost straight up the west of the mountain, climbing almost 600m.
(1) Once past the Boquete Bajo de Majalgrillo, the going is easier, but there is a steep climb up to the viewpoint Mirador del Cancho.
(2) From there it's a short walk over to the hut at the Refugio Peña Citores (3) and a bit further to reach the summit of Peña Citores (2,181m above sea level).
(4) Following the route, there are a number of remnants from the Civil War, with earthworks and stone trenches clearly visible.
(5) The descent is fairly straightforward, passing through the Puerto de Cotos (6) before plunging down the Camino Viejo del Paular.
(7) Follow the Camino Viejo del Paular and the stream Arroyo del Puerto del Paular back to the car park.(S/E)
