Rambling around Spain - Quintana Martín Galíndez - El Cotorrón & Río Ebro

This circular route starts and finishes in the small village of Quintana Martín Galíndez (Burgos). It links quiet villages, hilltop views at El Cotorrón and Altos del Portillo, the Ebro riverbanks, a Roman bridge, and the hamlet of Montejo de San Miguel.

Description of the walk

Start: Quintana Martín Galíndez (Burgos)

(S/E) The route heads northwest to Cormenzana (1), then climbs to El Cotorrón (2) and then heads west to the Altos del Portillo (3).

(4) After a short detour to Pereita, the descent goes through Santocildes (5) before reaching the Ebro River.

(6) On the other side of the Puente Romano (7), there's a restaurant and a recreation area, so refreshments are easy to come by.

(8) From there, the route follows the river downstream with a slight detour to check out the hamlet of Montejo de San Miguel.

(9) The route continues along the Camino Natural del Ebro to return to Quintana Martín Galíndez.(S/E)
