Park in the Jamarié car park at the southern exit of the town of Mazamet. Directional signs will be in place to guide you.
(S/E) With your back to the road and the car park, head east. Approach the lane running alongside the buildings on the Arnette. Cross the stream, then go up to the left. On Rue du Faubourg du Gua, turn right. Continue to the bend.
Take the path opposite. Further on, keep left. The wide dirt and gravel track climbs up to the Jamarié. Do not go there. Continue to the junction with a sharp left turn.
(1) Turn left. The path continues to climb, narrowing as it approaches the footbridge. Cross the 140 m footbridge. Continue climbing to the esplanade at the foot of the castle ruins. Visit the ruins and enjoy the view.
(2) Head right towards the centre of the village. Stroll along the main street that winds between the houses. Pass a wash house and fountain. Reach a small tree-lined square and continue climbing to the right. You will arrive at the foot of the Virgin Mary statue, Notre-Dame de Mazamet, erected on a rock.
(3) Climb the steps leading to the statue for a commanding view of the valley and the town of Mazamet. Retrace your steps. Follow the same route back to the car park (S/E).
