(S) Go down past war memorial in Priors Marston and follow the road right towards Priors Hardwick. After 100 paces turn right into Hardwick Road. As the road turns right go ahead along the track to a stile. Take the stile and go right to find a mid fence bridge.
(1) Take care as bridge is damaged, which has been reported to the County Council (2021). Take the bridge and go 1/2 left to the far left hand corner of the field to exit the paddock by a metal gate (there are often temporary horse paddocks in this field, so if in doubt, follow the left hand perimeter of the field to the far left corner). Then take a stile into the field. Go left with the hedge left, take a stile and continue along the hedge. By a telegraph pole go right and follow the power lines to exit by a gate near the corner of the field.
(2) Through gate onto a drive - turn right. After 30 paces take the gate left and go ahead to the far left corner of the field. Through a gate and a gate opposite go with the hedge right and power lines to the end of the field and hidden double stile, take the tiles and go 1/2 left across the field passing a telegraph pole, to a stile at the corner of the field by a barn.
Take the stile and go left, pass in front of the barn and take the gate. Turn right across a large field to find a far mid hedge gate to the road.
(3) Cross the road and go through the gate opposite. Continue uphill with the hedge left. Go through the small metal gate and continue uphill between the row of trees. Take the next gate onto the wide path between hedges. The path swings left.
(4) Go through the gate ahead and just after a dew pond take the gate on the left. Head 1/4 right across the field to the right corner of the wood. Continue ahead on the grass track with the wood left for some while to eventually turn left through coppice into the field and then continue straight ahead with the hedge left to a large gap at the end of the field by mixed coppice.
Go through the gap and turn right and, with coppice right, follow the edge of the field bearing left on the corner past a dew pond right.
(5) At corner of field go over the hidden bridge right and continue straight ahead down across the field and through a gap in the hedge. Turn left with the hedge left and at end of the field go through another gap in the hedge. Go half right to follow the path to the bridge. ''(If not possible, alternatively turn right with hedge right and follow edge of the field for 60 paces. Before the gap turn left with the ditch right. After 40 paces, turn right over the bridge).
''
Go ahead 1/2 left across the field to find a mid hedge gap with a ditch bridge. Take the bridge and continue across the field slightly left to find a gap. Go with the fence right to a gate and through rough ground to find a gated bridge. Take the bridge and turn right to take the gate to the road.
(6) Turn left to pass through a gap/gateway and, as the road goes uphill, take the public footpath right and pass the former chapel on the left. At end of path join Frog Lane into Upper Boddington (at crossroads L 100 paces to The Plough Inn).
Go straight on over the main road up Church Road. Continue on undulating lane for 1/2 mile to Lower Boddington. After the road turns right and goes downhill take the footpath left opposite Sears Farmhouse. The path continues between fences to become a lane.
(7) Follow the lane to the road (Carpenters Arms 300 paces right). Cross the road and continue ahead on the track. After about 100 paces and by a gate marked "Private" turn right through a wooden kissing gate into the field. Go 1/2 left for 100 paces to the fence corner of the small paddock and bear left to take a wooden kissing gate. Go with the fence right to a small field corner and then take a large metal gate to cross the low bridge.
(8) You now encounter HS2 works and the footpath has been diverted, so go right along a new path enclosed by fencing which takes you to the road running from Lower Boddington to Claydon. On reaching the road turn left towards Claydon. Follow the road and after half a mile it will turn sharp left and then sharp right.
(9) At this latter bend leave the road by going straight ahead along a track. At the next farm gate bear right along the wooden fence to follow the right hand side into a large field and continue to follow the right hand field edge. When you reach the line of trees at the end of the field turn left and walk with the line of trees right until you reach a waymarked narrow gap in the trees right. Go through the gap to cross a disused railway line (HS2 irony here!).
On entering the next field go 1/4 left to pick up the hedge left to reach the far left corner of the field. Through a large gap to the road and turn right. Go up to the road junction and turn left.
(10) As the road turns right go straight on through the gate across the field to find a gap. Through the gap and go straight with the hedge right to pass by a damaged corner gate and go straight into the field passing 2 trees on the left. To the gap in the hedge between two trees. Go through the mid hedge gap and straight across the field to the hedge gap.
Cross the next field to the hedge gap - do not take the gap but stay in the field and go left with the hedge right. Go half way down the field to where the hedge goes right.
(11) Go 1/4 left to cross the field and find a mid hedge gap. Go over the bridge and straight ahead to the left corner of the wood. Go straight ahead uphill with the wood right and, at the end of the field, turn right through the gap.
Turn left immediately with the hedge left and go through the gap into the next field and turn immediately half right (ignoring the direction of the main track and possibly going through the electric fence) and head towards farm buildings. Continue with the hedge and then a cattle outbuildings right.
(12) Over the stile onto the road, turn right and then left after 20 paces to take the gate. Go with the hedge left. At the end of the long field (with temporary fences) cross two stiles and go over or pass a 3rd high stile. Go 1/4 left to a gate in the left fence. Go through the gate and 3/4 right passing a large pond left and keeping a small dew pond right to find and take a mid fence stile by a tall tree.
(13) Straight across the field, or follow the sprayed path through the crop, towards spinney and go left on to the track for a few metres before going right on a path through spinney. Over the stile at the end of spinney and continue with the hedge right to a stile. Go along the alleyway, past buildings, to a stile onto the road.
Go right along the road and follow the footpath to cross the new by-pass and walk through a gap in the fence onto a road and follow the road round bend to a junction with the old A361 in Chipping Warden.
(14) Turn left and, as the main road turns left, go straight ahead into Culworth Road. The nice Griffin Pub is on your left. (E)
