Description of the walk

Driving to start: The start is 90 Km East of Invercargill. Follow Southern Scenic Rte towards Niagara-Waikawa Rd. At Niagara, continue towards Waikawa-Curio Bay Rd and arrive at Curion Bay.
Park in the large car park and go to the building to start the hike, having carefully read the recommendations on the various signs.

(S/E) Take the path around the corner of the building to a viewpoint on the rocky coast. Continue along the path, passing between large plants which clearly mark out the path, as well as fences to protect the peace and quiet of the penguins.

(1) At the end of this path, turn left to enjoy another view of the rock and petrified trees, especially visible at low tide. Go back a few metres and continue straight ahead, slightly downhill. Cross the road and go through the barrier to take advantage of the information panels, then enter the forest.

(2) At the junction, take left and follow the path as it loops through the forest.

(3) At the junction, keep right to continue into the Jurassic forest and rejoin the route you've already taken.

(2) Return to the starting point by the same way (S/E).
