Park at the small stadium car park: take the ‘Centre International de Rencontres’ roundabout, south exit.
(S/E) Walk between the City-Stade and the sports hall, taking the pavement towards the swimming pool. Cross the access road to the swimming pool via the pedestrian crossing and continue along the path opposite. Join the fitness trail.
(1) Stay on the path furthest to the left (sign for the orchids). Cross the Route de Port Galland and carry straight on along the path until you come out onto the Route de Blyes. Leave the roundabout on your left and turn right to enter Saint-Vulbas. When you reach the Rue de Claires Fontaines, turn right towards the church and the café-grocery shop.
You can make a detour to the church to see the statue of the parish priest from 1777, as well as the restaurant’s pretty façade. Alternatively, turn left onto Chemin du Lavoir
(2). At this point, head along the path on the left towards the Rhône. Once you reach the river, turn right onto the towpath and continue straight on to the old harbour. See the information board about the treille ferry.
(3) Continue along the Rhône.
(4) Cross a stream (the Ru Bas) and follow it upstream along a path on the right. At a small bridge, continue along the stream, passing through the arboretum. In front of the old mill (with its rammed-earth façade), cross the small bridge on the right and continue upstream along the stream to the spring and the statue.
Take the wooden steps on the left to climb back up to the roundabout where there is a memorial stone in honour of Philibert le Beau. Then head back up towards the Skate Park and the City-Stade (S/E).
