Description of the walk

Start: This tour takes you on a journey of discovery through the heart of the Swabian Alb. Your route begins directly at the Restaurant & Landhotel Winter car park (free of charge) in Offenhausen.

(S/E) From here, you will immediately feel the special atmosphere of the region as you follow Gächinger Straße and then Lichtensteinstraße, passing the historic monastery courtyard.

(1) Between tradition and open countryside

The first part of the route takes you past the stud farm inn and the insemination station of the famous Marbach State Stud. It is a quiet, almost meditative section that gently leads you out of the village and into nature. Follow the paths towards the "Sternberg" hiking car park, where the landscape begins to reveal its very own character.

(2) On the trail of the elements

From the car park, follow the signs for the "Hochgesprudelt" route of the so-called "Hochgehberge". The name says it all: the path leads you through the typical, wide juniper heaths that are so characteristic of the Alb. The air up here often seems a little clearer.

(3) The highlight: 360 degrees of freedom

The destination of the hike is the Sternberg Tower and the hiking lodge, where you can also stop for refreshments on weekends during the summer season. Once you have climbed the steps, you will be rewarded with a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view. On a clear day, the panorama stretches far beyond the rolling hills of the Alb to the striking silhouette of the Alps.

(4) From the tower, the route returns to the "Hochgesprudelt" trail and via the "Sternberg" hiking car park back to the Restaurant & Landhotel Winter. (S/E)
