Starting point: Car park next to Laissac secondary school.
Signposting: yellow markings (PR® trail).
(S/E) From the car park, take the slightly uphill tarmac road towards the stadium and the cemetery, then take the cement road to a small bridge.
(1) On the right, take the wide path over schist rocks. The slope is steep and lined with Mediterranean flora: mulberry trees, heather, gorse and small holm oaks. as you climb and follow the hairpin bends of La Roudonière, there are lovely views of the village of Olargues, the Eiffel Bridge (18/11/1889), the Espinousse mountain and Mont Carroux. You come to a cement path at an altitude of 381 metres.
(2) Turn left and, further on, you will see a cistern, a large esplanade, a hunting lodge and a crossroads.
(3) Take the stony path on the right between two low walls which descends into the forest, winds twice and you will hear the gentle murmur of a small stream below on the right, with a small waterfall. The dirt and leaf path climbs again, crosses the stream, the slope becomes steeper, wooden logs "facilitate" the ascent, then you come to a few boulders. this long climb leads to the Col de la Bacoulette; a forest path crosses a vast plateau populated by conifers, larch trees, pines, etc
(4) Long descent on the stony path, with the Col Fumat stream below on the right and the hamlet of the same name on the sunny slopes on the right bank.
(5) Once you reach La Salle, the route winds between rocks, passing an old stone house (half habitable, half under renovation, headquarters of the Bézier Speleological Club! Pick a few figs, then the path descends between dry stone walls and an electric fence, the ground alternating between a carpet of leaves and rocks. The descent continues to the bottom of the valley where I find the bed of the Crosès stream, which joins the Rautelly.
(6) A slight climb to some ruins on the right - the path follows the left bank of the stream, which is shaded - lots of moss and boxwood - the stream becomes a small torrent (on the map, a pink legend marked "édifice remarquable" indicates "Peyro escrito". A few houses called "Lupec" - pass through a gate.
(7) Cross the Rautelly on a small bridge, the stony path continues (in my opinion, it is possible to follow the stream along a grassy section to Rautely): 1 house, 1 vegetable garden, 1 fig tree, 1 grassy area overgrown with very fragrant thyme leads to a very old humpback bridge.
(8) Then climb up a stony path to a paved road. Turn left to the Col du Bouis (cross); I can see the village of Olargues in the distance.
(9) A little more tarmac road. Take the path on the left that cuts across two wide bends in the road, then rejoin the tarmac road on the left.
(10) Then take the stony path on the right, which winds through a beautiful chestnut forest.
(11) Arrival on the greenway, on the right, sandy track to Olargues (S/E), which follows an old railway line. Short stop at the entrance to the village with pretty views of the Devil's Bridge over the Jaur, the church, etc
But doable without too much difficulty
