Description of the route

(S/E) The starting point is at the crossroads of Rue de la Vallée Doudemont and Rue de Boigneville. Take the latter southwards, turn 90° right onto Avenue Jean Cocteau after 270 metres and continue along this avenue for 800 metres. Cross the D524 and you will arrive at the station.

(1) Continue straight on Rue de la Gare for 700 metres and opposite Rue de la Poterne and Chemin des Anes.

(2) Turn left onto Allée des Marsaules, also known as Chemin des Anes.

(3) After the no entry sign, which you should dismount your bike to pass in accordance with the highway code, you will reach the start of Rue Beaugrain. Turn right onto a small path. Follow it down to Rue de Ponteau and turn right for 700 metres.

(4) Leave the path on your right and continue left to reach Rue Principale Saint-Guillaume. Make the first turn right then left to take Chemin de l'Ancienne Ligne and arrive opposite Moulin de Touveau.

(5) Cross the Essonne river and continue along the same path until you reach the crossroads.

(6) You will arrive at Rue des Roses, which you should cross, turning slightly left. Pass three streets on your left and take the fourth, Chemin de la Messe, which you should follow for 1 km until you reach the Buthiers cemetery and church. Turn left onto Rue du Pillage, then right at the bend, and take the small path opposite for 500 metres. At the crossroads, turn left to reach Route d'Auxy.

(7) Follow the road to the right until you reach a crossroads.

(8) Take this small path on the left, then Rue du Vieux Puits on the right to reach the village of Auxy.

(10) The street becomes aPR®® for 1 km until you reach the D152.

(11) The path is slightly to the right. Be careful, as crossing this main road is dangerous. Follow the small path for 350 metres, turn right at the houses and you will reach a crossroads.

(12) Turn left and continue along Chemin de Milly for 1,350 metres, ignoring the three paths that cross it. Cross Chemin de Villetard at Chemin de Milly and arrive at Chemin de Chaumont.

(13) Turn left for 750 metres and then right onto Rue de Villiers to reach Rue de Corbin.

(14) Follow this street, which changes name several times, to reach Rue de Courcelles, which you follow to Moulin Paillard.

(15) Continue along this street.

(16) Turn left onto Chemin de la Gaillère, cross Chemin de la Chaussée du Buisson, follow Chemin de la Roche opposite, until you reach Chemin de la Vieille Marmotte on the left, which joins a road.

(17) Take Route de Mahesherbes on the left, which becomes Route de Chantambre, until you reach Place Jean-Marie Ferry.

(18) Turn left onto Rue du Petit Gironville, then Rue de l'Essonne for about 700 metres. Continue left onto Rue de l'Essonne until you reach the D449.

(19) Cross the road and take Rue des Courtils opposite, then turn right onto Rue Georges Berger. Opposite, take Chemin de Pithiviers for 700m. Hook right onto the path and leave the path on the left after 650m.

(20) Turn left onto Chemin de la Montagne des Rabiers until you reach Rue des Rabiers, which you take to the left until you reach Route de Paris (D449), which you follow right-left.

A very bucolic hike! ... but the distance is closer to 32 km than the 29 km indicated on the website, and the elevation gain is 345 m instead of 219 m.
However, overall there is too much tarmac for a mountain bike route (particularly between D and 3 and between 14 and 19)... this route would have benefited from following a few possible alternatives, even if it meant straying from the Essonne at times.
The section through the Buthiers leisure centre is superb... the landscape is sublime (magnificent rocks)... don't hesitate to stray from the route.
Be careful when crossing some busy roads (between 1 and 2) and at point 11 (bends with poor visibility).
Before point 5, there is a small path that leads to the ponds and the banks of the Essonne. Head towards the Pinson pond and the Touveau mill – unfortunately private – a beautiful spot to stop for a bite to eat, for example!
We wanted to go through the grounds of Malesherbes Castle, but it was closed, and when it is open, bicycles are not allowed 
Just after point 23 (a place called Touvaux), there is a model Swiss aeroplane in a garden (see photo).
All in all, a nice, fairly easy ride to do on a sunny day!
