In the Puy-de-Dôme department, within the Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne region, the commune of Malauzat is situated less than 10 km from Clermont-Ferrand and Riom. Its inhabitants are known as ‘Malauzaires’.
The commune of Malauzat also lies within the Greater Clermont area.
Malauzat is an elongated commune, forming a link between the Grande Limagne and the Monts Dômes. It covers an area of 599 hectares.
The commune is unique in that it is split in two, separated by a natural barrier: the Puy de Marcoin (altitude 561 m). To the south lies the village of Malauzat, at an average altitude of between 500 and 540 m (whose inhabitants are perhaps more aware of the proximity of Clermont-Ferrand?), and to the north are the villages of Saint-Genes l’Enfant and Les Moulins Blancs, at an altitude of around 380 m.
The commune of Malauzat borders the following communes: - Enval to the north; - Mozac, Marsat and Châteaugay to the east; - Blanzat and Sayat to the south; - Volvic to the west.
