Start: Start at London Bridge Station (SE1 9SP), handily located on National Rail, Jubilee and Northern Lines. Grid ref. TQ 327 803
(S) Leave the station via the Tooley Street exit, turning right (East) along Tooley Street, passing the historic Aston Webb House and arriving at the Fire Station on the left hand side of the street.
(1) Turn right down Magdalen Street.
(2) Enter the secret garden on Gibbons Rent. Exit on to Holyrood street, walking right along it then left to reach A2205.
(3) Turn left on to Bermondsey Street and head South through the tunnel beneath the viaduct. Continue down for 380m.
(4) Stop off for a coffee if you wish before turning left in to Tanner Street Car Park. Head across the park exiting on the north side, out on to Tanner Street. Turn right along the street before turning left on to Tower Bridge Road.
Continue North until you see Tower Bridge in the distance, turning right on to Queen Elizabeth Street. Continue to the end of the street.
(5) On the way, go past the horse sculpture and turn left when you reach the end. Follow the road up and when you pass beneath the archway at the top of the road aside Butlers Wharf turn immediately right and out on to the river embankment to enjoy the view over the river and of Tower Bridge.
Turn right (East) and begin to follow the Thames Path, crossing the metal footbridge, through the alley and out on to Bermondsey Wall West.
Follow the road to the end turning right on to East Lane and left on to Chambers Street, left on to Loftie Street and back on to the embankment, continuing to follow the river East.
Continue along the path following the Thames Path signs and stop off at The Angel pub for some light refreshment! Don't miss the ruins of the manor house opposite the pub too!
(6) Continuing along the path, past Rotherhithe and over the canal to Surrey Water (Basin). As the water begins to turn south, turn right and head directly South down Sovereign Crescent onto Rotherhithe Street and into the Lavender Pond nature reserve.
(7) Leaving the reserve to the south and heading left (East) and South along Salter Road.
(8) Then turn left on to Nelson Walk, to the Old Nelson Dock.
(9) Here catch the Clipper across The Thames to the Promenade at Canary Wharf. When back on dry land head across Westferry Circus.
(10) Then walk straight down West India Avenue and arrive at the Canary Wharf DLR where you can take a train back to Tower Hill. (E)
