After passing flats, cross the brook by the footbridge, continue ahead through a wide gap in a row of trees and immediately go half right across the open common, keep to the right of a bench and follow the path left then right to reach the corner of Putney Old Cemetery. Cross a riding track and continue on a rising path through the Park to reach the road near Ham Cross.
(4) Cross the road and turn left along the path parallel to the road for a few hundred yards then turn right down the path to leave the park via Ham Gate. For the complete walk, do not follow the line of the avenue. Walk half left, passing a drinking fountain on the right and keeping to the left of a sports pitch. After about 500 yards (just past a dead, standing tree trunk) take the path half right. Cross a metalled track heading towards a couple of willow trees. Do not cross the bridge but follow the path to enter the garden through a get on the left. Take the first turning on the left, cross a bridge over a small stream and then a second larger bridge to emerge opposite a pool. Go to the right of the pool and bend round to the right through rhododendrons. Keep right and emerge on a path by a waterfall. Pass this on the left, crossing the stream below it, and continue on the path to a lodge, and immediately after a gate.
(15) Take the left hand path opposite the gate and continue through trees to a right-angled bend in the Longford River. Continue half right along a clear path to a fence, turn right and beyond poplar trees go through a gate on the left, then left along a lane between hedges.
