Description of the route

The tour departs from Promenade Dubourdieu, near Parc Renée Lach.

(S/E) Follow Quais Camille Pelletan, then turn right onto Rue de la Porte de Fer to reach the stop sign and the bridge.

(1) Turn left and cross the bridge. At the end of the bridge, turn left onto Avenue de la Dordogne. Follow the Dordogne river, then turn right onto Route de la République and follow it to the D15.

(2) Turn right, then left onto Route de Lacoste and follow it until you reach a Y-junction.

(3) Take the road on the left, then turn right at the next junction. After the ruins of the chapel, take the dirt track on the left until you reach the tarmac road.

(4) Take this road, facing you, until you reach the D130.

(5) Continue left, then immediately right onto the small road that goes uphill; you will then pass by the foot of the Saint-Martin de Mouliets Church. Then turn right onto the path between the vineyards and head towards the woods, crossed by the Romédol.

(6) Cross the stream. After crossing the woods, turn left onto the small tarmac road and continue to the bend.

(7) Take the path in front of you between the vineyards. Follow it, then turn right to enter the woods. When you come out, follow the embankment and climb up the small slope. Continue along the limestone path, then take the tarmac road in front of you to the bend.

(8) Turn left onto the path. Go around the first plot by turning right. Facing the road, turn right and then right again at the next intersection. Follow this road until you reach the stop sign.

(9) Go straight ahead towards the cemetery, then turn left at the first road. Turn right to go up into the grounds of Château de Pujols and walk around it.

(10) Walk along the embankment and head back up towards the village. At the roundabout, take the first exit and go around the square on the right. Then turn right again into the small street that goes downhill. Turn left and then immediately right into the cul-de-sac "Rue du Lavoir" towards the place called Le Bourdieu.

(11) At the end of the tarmac road, take the sunken path in front of you, along the low stone wall. Take care when walking along the ravine. Pass through the small wood, then walk alongside it and take the dirt track towards the house.

(12) Continue to the junction with the D232, where you turn right. Descend to Carcaillet and pass the two speed bumps.

(13) At the end of the 30 km/h zone, turn left and then immediately right towards Marac.

(14) At the end of the small road, turn right onto the limestone path between the vineyards. After the last rows of vines, turn left to descend into the woods.

(15) At the edge of the woods, keep left on the gravel path and follow it. After the small copse, turn right and continue along the grassy path.

(16) Cross the Escouach and after the first vineyard plot, turn left and go around the woods to reach a fork.

(17) Turn right onto the small grassy path in the woods. When you reach the vineyard, turn right and then left to reach the tarmac road, where you turn right. At the stop sign, turn left onto the D232, pass in front of the Chais de Vaure and the château, and continue on the D232 for a few metres.

(18) Turn right into the vineyard lane and then keep right again to drive along the woods. After the new vineyard plot, turn left and then right to enter the woods. At the exit, turn left and continue to the D126.

The path, or rather the trail, at the end of Ay is very difficult! I strongly advise against it for older people. There are also several places where there are trees in the middle of the path, so you have to climb over them. Disappointed and frustrated by this hike!
