Access: From Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, take the D3 towards Sare. After the hamlet of Amotz, you will see a small car park with recycling bins and a bus stop on your left. This is the Pont d'Amotz. Park on either side of the bridge.
Red, white and yellow markings
(S/E) Start on the right bank of the Nivelle, upstream from the Amotz Bridge. The route follows theGR®8and thePR® "Tour des redoutes".
Head south on the narrow road leading to Ziburua. At a house, the road turns into a wide dirt and gravel track... The track climbs, skirting the hill on the right.
(1) At the top of the hill (first redoubt, information sign), turn right (south-east) onto a grassy path that climbs uphill. You will arrive at the second redoubt. Looking to the right (south), you can see the dam on the Nivelle below, which now protects Saint-Pée from the disastrous floods it suffered in the past.
(2) Continue east and, after about 1 km, you will reach a crossroads with a beautiful oak tree.
(3) Continue straight ahead (east). The path climbs with woods on the left and a clearing lined with pidgeon hunting huts on the right. Reach the third redoubt.
(4) The path curves to the left and heads north-east, descending.
Yellow signpost
(5) At the bottom of the descent, turn left (north) and leave theGR®8, which climbs up opposite. The path soon descends steeply. At the bottom is the Kamietakoborda farm. Join a tarmac road and follow it for about 600 metres.
(6) At the three-way junction, take the wide gravel path on the left.
(7) At the fork, stay on the path (right-hand lane). At the next fork, continue straight ahead (left-hand lane). Continue until you reach the paramotor base and its green hangar.
(8) Turn left (south) onto the road that descends alongside beautiful renovated houses and farms.
The Nivelle river reappears on the right. At the T-junction, turn right. The car park is not far away.
