Park in the Croix de Boutières car park.
(Start/Finish) Head north along the path on the left (running parallel to the snack bar). Begin a gentle, steady climb through well-maintained woodland leading to a junction. Further up, at the edge of the woods, you’ll reach a crossroads of paths.
(1) Important note here: work is currently being carried out on the path (at the time I walked the route on 14 July 2023). Therefore, follow the signposts carefully and do not venture where the paths are closed.
Follow the well-marked path leading to the north face of Mont Mézenc, the highest point in the Haute-Loire. Enjoy the wonderful 360° panorama.
(2) Head down south-east towards the south face of Mont Mézenc. At the crossroads, turn right and you’ll soon reach the orientation table at the summit of the south face, which is the highest point in the Ardèche . Enjoy the wonderful 360° panorama here too.
(3) Continue to the left to reach asecond orientation table, which is located near the paragliding launch site.
(3) Head north-west to return to Mont Mézenc Nord.
(2) Follow the same route as on the way out in the opposite direction until you return to the original junction.
(1) Turn right into the woods and continue down the slope to reach the Croix de Peccata crossroads. Here you’ll find theGR®®7and 420 trails and theGRP®® ‘Tour du Massif du Mézenc Gerbier de Jonc’ route.
(4) Turn left here; at the next junction, keep left and follow theGR®® andGRP®® along the edge of the woods. Before the D631, turn left again to quickly reach the Croix de Boutières car park (S/E).
