Depart from the Espérance car park. Follow the Anneau Vert signs.
(S/E) Head towards the Novotel Atria along Avenue de l'Espérance. Cross the Espérance crossroads, turning left. Take the François Mitterrand promenade along the Savoureuse river.
(1) Walk along the Savoureuse river. At the corner of a building, turn right, walk along a car park and follow Avenue Jean-Moulin on the left.
(2) At the traffic lights, turn right onto Rue de Marseille. At the end, you will arrive at the edge of the Étang des Forges. Turn right and walk along the pond to the water sports centre buildings.
(3) Leave the pond, go up the track on the right towards the Tour de la Miotte and cross Rue de la 5ème Division Blindée. After the allotments, go up the footpath: it joins another cross path. Turn left, after two successive bends, the path passes under a tunnel and comes out at the foot of the Fort de la Miotte enclosure wall.
(4) Continue to the right and walk along the fort on your left. After the fortifications, take the upper path that crosses the N83. Go up the stairs, then turn right and walk along the fortifications of Fort de la Justice on your left until you reach the southern tip.
(5) Turn left at the hairpin bend. Pass under the monumental porch and then climb slightly to the right towards the dovecote, whose terrace serves as a belvedere. Then turn left and continue along the edge of the cliff on the Chemin de la Justice. Cross over the road and head towards the castle's defensive complex to reach the Martin cart.
(6) Turn left and follow the castle around the third moat of the fortified site. When you reach the counterscarp bastion, turn left, go around it and continue westwards along the fold in the ground. At the Trou du Diable (fortified staircase), go down the path overlooking the Fourneau district and the town of Belfort.
(7) The path passes under the Lion and leads to the road that goes to the postern gate. Turn left onto Montée du Château, then Rue des Bons Enfants, and cross Place des Bourgeois.
(8) At the crossroads, turn right and pass under the Porte de Brisach. Cross the Demi-lune. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Rue Jean-Pierre Melville. Then follow Rue sous le Rempart to the left until you reach the car park where you started (S/E).
