Description of the walk

Departure from the village of Carnac, behind the Museum of Prehistory. Parking nearby (in front of the museum or at the Parking des Lucioles car park below).

(S/E) Take the alley to the left of the Museum of Prehistory, then cross the road, first turning left then right. Head towards the Saint-Michel Tumulus.

(1) Then turn left to reach the tumulus via the path.

(2) At the top is the Saint-Michel Chapel, which has been rebuilt twice. Below is the Saint Michel Fountain. Follow the path that passes behind the tumulus and starts on the left. It winds through the woods and leads you to the Kermario alignments. When you reach the crossroads, turn left. At the end of the path, turn left towards the Audran Cross (D119).

(3) Join the Ménec alignments by turning right and continue to the Maison des Mégalithes, the information centre for megalithic sites.

(4) Continue along the car parks.

(5) Turn right and walk around the Ménec site. Go straight ahead at the crossroads, then turn right. Continue straight ahead.

(6) Turn left, then right, cross the road and continue straight ahead. Then turn right at the first turn to reach the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(3) Turn left and then immediately right. Then take the path to the left of the road. Cut across a track and then turn right onto a small path. At the Kermario Alignments, go up to the left along the Route de Kerlescan.

(7) Continue along the path that runs alongside the sites, passing in front of the Moulin de Kermaux, now a panoramic tower. Then take the path on the left. At the crossroads, turn right towards the Géant du Manio.

(8) Continue along the path.

(9) At the end of the circular loop, cross the farm track and take the small loop to discover part of the KerlesKant alignments site. Turn right twice at right angles, then left and finally right again. Then follow the track on the left and the road on the right. Take the end of the giant's circular route towards the Kermario site. Continue straight ahead, staying on the road.

(7) At the alignments, continue straight ahead and follow the first path on the left.

(10) At Kermario, take the second right and join Chemin de Kerluir. Continue to the village of Cloucarnac.

(11) Continue along the street, turn right and finally reach the Tumulus Saint-Michel by continuing straight ahead. Head towards the Museum of Prehistory by following the yellow markings and turning left. Then first turn left then right and return to the starting point by following the same route as on the way there (S/E).
