Start from the picnic area at the Pertuyzat cross-country ski centre.
(S/E) Follow the signposts for the Pertuyzat area; the three routes (1, 2 and 3) are marked on these posts.
Set off due west, following the posts (1, 2, 3). After a short descent followed by a short climb, you’ll reach the junction of routes (1, 2) and (3).
(1). Let route (1, 2) head south and take route (3) due west.
Reach Lake Pavin and begin your walk around it by turning right. You will come to a junction.
(2) Leave the path running along the edge of the lake on your left and head uphill into the forest. Keep following the signposting (3), then stop for a break at the viewpoint overlooking the lake (developed area).
Continue north-east until you reach the junction of routes (2) and (3).
(3) Follow the signposting (3). Head east then north-east to walk round Puy de Pertuyzat.
(4) Return to the car park (start/end).
