Description of the walk

(S) Park in front of the Cheminas cemetery.

Take a small local road heading north towards Théolier. Continue straight ahead for 700 metres.

(1) At Les Riailles, turn left onto the path through the fields (signposted). The path then descends into the woods, with a large bend. Cross a stream. Go up for 150m and turn left at the only crossroads. At the fork at the end of the woods, take the left-hand path. At the cross, turn right. Ignore a path on the right and continue until you reach a road at Ceintres.

(2) Turn left towards the hamlet (La Chapelle de Ceintres is in the same direction, above the lodge) and, after about 40 metres, take the first road on the right. After 200 metres, leave this paved road on the right and continue straight ahead on a track that descends to Lac des Meinettes.

(3) Go right along the lake, then turn left at the top of the dam. When you reach a picnic area, follow the footpath that goes around the lake (signposts). Continue along the lake through the woods, crossing a few easy footbridges. The footbridge at the island is the last one you will cross.

(4) At the Misery-le-Bas sign, leave the lake and take a track on the right through the woods which climbs steadily towards the hamlet of Misery.

Note: It is also possible to complete the loop around the lake and return by the same route as on the way out, starting from point 4 (passing through Ceintres again). This allows you to return by footpaths, whereas the rest of the hike would otherwise be on tracks and small tarmac roads. The choice is yours...

(5) The path gives way to a small paved road. Follow it uphill until you reach a larger road. Then turn left at an acute angle before the road that branches off to the right at Le Vert and follow the road for about 250 metres.

(6) Turn right and follow the track to the south-east. This will take you to the hamlet of Les Chaumasses.

(7) At the cross, cross the main road and go straight ahead, climbing the small hill. Follow the paved road to the hamlet of Collet de (large farm).

(8) Take the track on the left towards Cheminas (signposted). Leave Maison Neuve on your right. After a short descent (tarmac), turn left and follow the small road that climbs straight up below the village of Cheminas. Go through the village (town hall, school, church, etc.) and return to the car park (E).

Nice little country walk in fine weather.
No difficulties.
We met a lot of people around Lac des Menettes. It was a very hot Sunday. Otherwise, this route doesn't seem very popular.
Yes, it's true, there's a bit of tarmac at the end of the walk... But these are pleasant little roads, without much traffic.

A pleasant walk for a family with children, so accessible to all.
We opted for the complete circuit around the lake with a picnic in the picnic area.

Nice walk with the children. Not very quiet or even dangerous with dogs running loose at point 8. We turned back and took the path that took us almost straight to the village.

An interesting section of the route follows the banks of the lake. This modest hike, without any difficulty, didn't leave us with any lasting memories. A good third of the walk takes place on tarmac roads, which are not very busy.

made by cold and windy weather, the tour of the lake is interesting despite an icy wind we were able to eat by the lake, small downside on the return too much tarmac. nice hike

The merit of this hike is that it gave us a different approach to Lac des Meinettes, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Hello, we did this walk on 18 November with a group of 17 people, some footbridges are in very poor condition, be careful at point 6 you have to turn after the house, the yellow and white markings are crossed out so don't take them into account otherwise you'll turn before in the meadow we'll Fraysse.
Thanks to the organisers, it's a beautiful walk.

We were able to walk around the lake from the beginning via the 3 footbridges without any problems, as the signposting was perfect; On the other hand, we got lost at the end of the lake, as there was no signposting to continue, so we went straight on and arrived at a car park. However, when we asked for directions, someone told us that we should have gone in the direction of Cheminas, and not crossed the dyke over the lake, which is not indicated on the description of the walk either. We made it back to the car park at the village hall in St Jeure where we had left the car, as indicated at the start of the hike, taking a main road rather than paths or tracks.
We were disappointed and it's not the first time that we've found that the explanations given in the hikes aren't explicit enough.

A leisurely walk, the main interest of which is the tour of the lake.
and returned via the outward route to avoid the tarmac.
It was a Monday outside the holidays, so we saw no-one apart from a fisherman in a boat.

An easy and pleasant walk.
The walk around the lake is very beautiful and unexpected in this area. Already crowded, how must it be on a Sunday in summer!
There was too much tarmac at the end, so we skipped the final section by taking the farm tracks.

There is a lot of tarmac, and there are references to numerous hamlets that have no signs.... so we don't know if we're in the right place. As it was very cold and freezing fog, there was no one to ask.
At point 6, we took a track to the right a little too early, which was the second track behind a house. So we headed away from the hamlet of Les Chaumasses. Thanks to the GPS, we found the hamlet again.
The lake is as beautiful and wild as ever, giving the fog a Connemara air!

I find that there's a lot of walking on small roads, which is a bit of a shame, but there aren't too many dirt tracks down there. The tour of the lake is very nice.
