(S) Park in front of the Cheminas cemetery.
Take a small local road heading north towards Théolier. Continue straight ahead for 700 metres.
(1) At Les Riailles, turn left onto the path through the fields (signposted). The path then descends into the woods, with a large bend. Cross a stream. Go up for 150m and turn left at the only crossroads. At the fork at the end of the woods, take the left-hand path. At the cross, turn right. Ignore a path on the right and continue until you reach a road at Ceintres.
(2) Turn left towards the hamlet (La Chapelle de Ceintres is in the same direction, above the lodge) and, after about 40 metres, take the first road on the right. After 200 metres, leave this paved road on the right and continue straight ahead on a track that descends to Lac des Meinettes.
(3) Go right along the lake, then turn left at the top of the dam. When you reach a picnic area, follow the footpath that goes around the lake (signposts). Continue along the lake through the woods, crossing a few easy footbridges. The footbridge at the island is the last one you will cross.
(4) At the Misery-le-Bas sign, leave the lake and take a track on the right through the woods which climbs steadily towards the hamlet of Misery.
Note: It is also possible to complete the loop around the lake and return by the same route as on the way out, starting from point 4 (passing through Ceintres again). This allows you to return by footpaths, whereas the rest of the hike would otherwise be on tracks and small tarmac roads. The choice is yours...
(5) The path gives way to a small paved road. Follow it uphill until you reach a larger road. Then turn left at an acute angle before the road that branches off to the right at Le Vert and follow the road for about 250 metres.
(6) Turn right and follow the track to the south-east. This will take you to the hamlet of Les Chaumasses.
(7) At the cross, cross the main road and go straight ahead, climbing the small hill. Follow the paved road to the hamlet of Collet de (large farm).
(8) Take the track on the left towards Cheminas (signposted). Leave Maison Neuve on your right. After a short descent (tarmac), turn left and follow the small road that climbs straight up below the village of Cheminas. Go through the village (town hall, school, church, etc.) and return to the car park (E).
