The Bois de l'Abîme and Givenchy from Angres

This walk, starting from Angres, will take you through the Bois de l’Abîmes and Givenchy, passing over the Pinchonvalles slag heap. Angres was inhabited during the Gallo-Roman period, but is best known for its mining industry (from 1907), with pits No. 6 and No. 6 bis. These were destroyed during the First World War. Mining resumed in 1920, before closing down permanently in 1984.

Thank you for letting us know about the fallen trees. I have notified the relevant department so that they can take the necessary action.

A superb woodland walk offering views of Vimy and Lorette in the distance. Between points 3 and 4, there are several fallen trees.
We did the route in reverse, which we thought was just as good as the steps are less damaged that way.

The barrier at point 4 is for entering the site. Unfortunately, at the moment, it is complicated due to the weather conditions.

Route I followed in part and in the opposite direction between point 8 and the motorway.
The path between points 5 and 6 is still slippery, but it's passable.
I mainly wanted to locate the path between the motorway and point 4; it's very easy, despite several fallen trees, which are relatively easy to get past. Note that there is a barrier (???) at point 4.
